How rigid does a stay-flat mailer need to be?

Define acceptable bending for the contents and supply the full document or artwork stack. Compare samples for face stiffness, edge protection and fit in your actual route. Stay-flat is a format objective; the name alone does not guarantee that an unsupported item cannot bend.

Can extra empty space cause corner damage?

Check whether the contents slide into the closure or strike exposed edges. Supply the largest and smallest document sizes and evaluate retention or backing as needed. Test the complete arrangement so a stiff outer envelope does not mask movement damage inside.

How should the opening strip be positioned?

Trial opening with the intended contents close to the envelope edge. Ensure the user can follow the strip without damaging prints or documents and can withdraw the stack cleanly. Specify insertion depth and safe artwork margins on the approved sample drawing.

Provide contents dimensions, thickness, fragility and presentation requirements, including whether corners or surfaces must remain pristine. State the delivery route and any return requirement.
