How do we specify the fit between a folding tray and lid?

Provide the usable tray dimensions and required lid overlap as separate details. Approve the components together with the selected board and folded corners. Check fit after filling, because tray distortion or protruding contents can make a correctly sized empty lid difficult to seat.

Can the lid hold the tray closed during carrying?

Confirm how the filled pack will be carried and whether a sleeve, band or seal will retain the lid. Test that complete configuration. A friction fit that looks neat on a shelf should not be treated as a verified carrying closure.

How can we avoid corner buildup spoiling the lid fit?

Review the corner-fold arrangement with the selected board thickness and finish. Erect a sample in the intended sequence and inspect where layers accumulate. Resolve binding at those corners before adjusting the overall size, which could make the remaining fit unnecessarily loose.

Put the primary closed-pack message on the lid and plan secondary information around the overlap on the tray. Review a folded printed mockup with the lid fitted. Ensure a band or seal does not cover a barcode or an instruction the buyer needs immediately.
